Is formal education less than homeschooling

Having just paid a visit to a public college in NY Town a week ago I must answer exuberantly yes! I had driven a mate to the college in a rush as her boy had gotten into some childish mischief. We were escorted to a room and in walked a person who would be poorly dressed for a destitute person.

After a short lecture from this unwell clad man to the young man in difficulty he departed. I must add here the lecture was delivered in rather poorly made English. I do not mean to suggest that the sick clad man was illiterate. Just that his speech was full of colloquialisms. Perhaps he was making an attempt to relate to the youngsters though it was a slightly poor exposition. When I inquired as to who he was I was informed he was the Dean of the high-school. I was surprised. I quickly recalled the Dean of my very own school who wore a suit, tie and looked like a bank president. While I am not sure much about this college I'm of the opinion that there are plenty of issues there. Youngsters are extraordinarily observant. They do not miss much. I am sure this dearth of professionalism on the part of the Dean is only the end of the iceberg in this college. I shudder to fantasize what the teachers in this college are like.

Another factor that elders should think about is their own education level. When I was in varsity you had to maintain a high average in your major subject. If you might not do this you were steered into becoming and education major. It is a straightforward major. I am one of the baby boomer's so folks must be aware that teachers from my generation weren't among the best and the brightest. If as a parent your education level were higher than the average education major then home schooling would virtually be a must have. Why subject your children to unskilled and less than sufficient educators?
